FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH, 2021. Delta Chamber of Commerce 70th Annual Hats Off to Excellence Awards.
As attendees and business owners reunited in person after last year’s virtual awards ceremony due to COVID-19, the atmosphere was lively and optimistic. The gala was hosted at Tsawwassen Springs and featured a silent auction, live auction, as well as a three-course dinner. Notable local dignitaries, chamber members, and local businesses were all in attendance.

Linwood Homes holds a longstanding relationship with the Delta Chamber of Commerce. Linwood’s large custom home manufacturing plant and head office space is based in Delta, BC, along River Road. The show home is open 6 days per week and appointments, as well as walk in’s are always welcome.
At the ceremony, there were 6 different awards categories for businesses as well as a Citizen of the Year award. These included Rising Star Business, Small Business of the Year, Medium Business of the Year, Large Business of the Year, Community Impact Award, and the Apprentice of the Year Award.
Linwood Homes is proud to announce we won the Large Business of the Year Award for 2021.
Chief Growth Officer, Alex Mascott spoke at the event and accepted the award on behalf of Linwood Homes. In a touching speech, he said, “We’d like to thank the Business Development Bank of Canada for the nomination and for their support. In the good times, but particularly in the bad.
Given the events of the past two years, We feel fortunate to be able to celebrate our success.
But it is always important to recognize the role that luck plays.
The effects of the pandemic have certainly been lucky to us. Changes in consumer behavior paired with governmental monetary policy created to address the pandemic have been huge accelerators to our (housing) business. We have certainly been lucky.
Indeed, it is a mantra of my father’s (Owner and CEO Bill Mascott) that it is always better to be lucky than good, but it is best to be both.
And the Linwood team certainly is that. Our team has risen to the challenge and enabled our growth beyond what anyone thought was possible. I’d like to thank them for it.
Much of the team has been with us for many years. They bring a culture of dedication and expertise that is unrivaled in our industry. We have an exciting future ahead.
However, custom construction remains a notoriously unfriendly industry to its customers, but I wake up excited every single day to see what we can achieve, and how easy we can make building over the long term.

With 7 different locations across North America and over 100 dedicated staff members, Linwood is certainly growing and expanding rapidly as a large-scale custom home builder. However, the company started with humble beginnings in 1968, with a single office based out of Calgary, AB.
It’s incredible to be able to see the growth and success of Linwood. As a company that has been in business for over 50 years, Linwood Homes has a stable foundation from which to grow into the future.
